Johann Felipe Gonzalez Avila

I recently completed my Ph.D. in Information Technology with a specialization in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), co-supervised by  Université de Lille and Carleton University. My research focused on enhancing user experience in 3D Computer-Aided Design for 3D printing, leveraging the concept of Bidirectional Programming. I conducted my research in the Creative Interaction Lab (CIL) at Carleton University, Canada, and the LOKI research team at the Institut national de recherche en sciences et technologies du numérique INRIA, France.

My academic journey began with dual undergraduate degrees in Electronic Engineering (2009-2014) and Systems and Computing Engineering (2011-2016). During this period, I participated in an international exchange program at the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées INSA in Lyon, France, and completed a 10-month internship at the Centre de Recherche en Acquisition et Traitement de l'Image pour la Santé (CREATIS). Following my undergraduate studies, I pursued a Master's degree in Systems and Computing Engineering (2017-2019), where I researched haptics in Virtual Reality. Supported by the Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) scholarship, I joined the Creative Interaction Lab (CIL) at Carleton University as a visiting student researcher.
